Belief Systems

Once Upon A Time          I believed

 in living life like an explorer without a map;

 that geniuses of stagecraft had mastered perfect timing;

 that the oceans housed amazing possibilities for happiness;

 and laughter from couples on a beach gave a new sound to beauty.

Now          I believe

 heartaches are better after walking in a light rain;

 relationships are a cabinet of curiosities with hidden drawers;

 televisions set to the weather channel comfort lonely people;

 and most people lose their minds if they have to grasp reality up close.
