Displacement

an empty yard, a leafless tree

a house that only used to be

now there isn't much to see

but this place meant a lot to me

dirt road to a gravel drive

a creek bed perfect place to hide

rutted pastures tall with weeds

lightning bugs and centipedes

but now i lay me down to sleep

with city lights my soul to keep

i guess that's how it had to be

still that place meant a lot to me
