The Pain of an Animal

A tumble of broken feathers

A cracked beak

From all the sorrows

She carried in it

A bent back

From the heavy burden

A broken wing

From the bruising sky

A cry escapes

Her dry throat

Her children gaze

At her tired face

She flies on

Staggering

Almost falling

Yet she flies on

Death

Branches

Entangled upon NatureÕs arms

Shadowing her face

Never seen

Broken limbs of the species

Clinging atop the nets of life

Grappling

Clinging

Breaking apart

Petals of sand

Writhing

Under the dead manÕs soul

Bones

Disintegrating
